Overseas Research in Norwegian White Sheep
showed increased EBV for NLB of 0.20 -0.25 for Rams carrying one copy of the gene and 0.46-0.57 for Rams carrying two copies.
Ewes carrying two copies of the gene are fully fertile. This gene variant is believed to originate from Finnish Landrace. Probably introduced to Blackdale by one of our foundation Texel ewes with Finnish Texel ancestry. Now mainly in our Texel Coopworth flock.

- Peter & Marion started performance recording the new breeds Coopworths.
- Blackdale Stud Formed.
- Peter and Marion invested in Sheep Pac Exotic Imports.
- Peter spent 5 years as Quality Control Inspector on Quarantine Farms.
Blackdale secures Suffolk, Poll Dorset & Dorset Down Ewes to trial with new Texel genetics.
Texel released first TxC Bred.
Leon became partner in Blackdale.
TexelSuffolk First cross being bred.
Wendy became partner in Blackdale.
First textras developed using East-Friesian beed, Texel and Coopworth combo.
Trademark established Textra TM
Texel Suffolk stabilised.
Leon & Wendy took over sole running of Blackdale.
